Disney Segway Tour at Epcot World Showcase

This travelog is about one of the biggest secrets at WDW, the Disney Segway tour at Epcot World Showcase.
This is by far, one of the best hidden secrets that everyone should know about. Even if you have never
dreamed that your would ever ride on a Segway Human Transporter, you will want to check this out.

We booked a tour 5 months in advance of our visit mid August 2007 and this has become our best
Disney experience to date. Our previous, most memorable experience was IllumiNations: Reflections
of Earth spectacle presented each evening. We had no idea that this would be such a great adventure.
The cost was $85 per person, plus tax and it was, by far, the best value of our trip.

The tour is comprised of two parts, the training period and the tour around the World Showcase.
Each part takes about an hour. The training is done at Innovations East. We started by watching
a short film with safety information and then we proceeded to the inside training area. They showed
us how to mount and dismount the scooter, then we went around a cone track and then an incline
where we practiced stopping. Our whole group of 5 people were riding like experts in no time. Note
that riders need to be 16 years or older and weigh less than 250 pounds. They run 4 tours daily at
7:45 am, 8:30 am, 9:00 am and 9:30 am. The World Showcase does not open until 11 am, so the only
people you see are the employees setting up for the day. We went at 9:30 am, so we did see park
visitors towards the end of the tour. Since we had to go through the Future World area to get to the
World Showcase, we saw a lot of people who were very curious as to how they could arrange the
same tour we were enjoying.

Once we got to the World Showcase, we went from country to country by way of the most interesting
paths and walkways. Most notable was the trip through Morocco where we went through the narrow
alleyways. Japan was especially nice since the path went up a hill and past several Koi ponds. Our leader
made an effort to take us through areas that were both interesting and fun to ride through. Near the end
of the tour we had about 5 minutes of free ride time near the Canada pavilion. We had a chance to have
some fun scootering around on our own before we had to head back to Innovations West.

At the conclusion of our tour we had the opportunity to take photos with our tour guides, They were really
fantastic and we felt very safe and comfortable under their care. Below is a special pin you get at the end of
the tour. I am sure this pin is one of the most desired pins available. I would not trade it or the special
memories we enjoyed for anything. If you are looking for a great Epcot experience, this is it.
